saturday acting jams

Every third Saturday, Off the Cuff Improv we will be hosting a series of acting classes for ages 7-13! Each class will be a mix of improv exercises and scene work with the end goal of presenting a show on Tuesday, July 27.
Classes run from 2-4pm.
Not only will the kids learn more about acting, but the skills they pick up through improv will build confidence in your budding actors.
FEE: $120 for the series, $40 drop-in

The Local Group

Taking their name from the cluster of galaxies containing the Milky Way, the Local Group plays music of astronomical proportions. With roots in rural Saskatchewan, this young Saskatoon-based trio puts their own unique spin on hard-driving traditional bluegrass, also taking influence from Celtic, classic country, and Canadiana. Featuring hot banjo, fiddle and guitar picking, tight 3-part harmonies, and a mixed bag of instruments including double bass, fiddle, harmonica, penny whistle and triangle, their show will take you out of this world on a rocket fueled by pure folk music. They will be joined on this tour by Jake Vaadeland, an up and coming songwriter and performer from northern Saskatchewan with a smooth voice evocative of Lester Flatt.

Writer's salon

Whether you're working on the next great novel, poetry anthology, play, essay, or children's book, we want to give you the space and time to work.
Each writer will have their own writing station with access to wifi and power plugins for your gadgets. Individually packaged snacks and a coffee and tea station will be provided.
Most importantly, this will be a supportive, quiet, comfortable environment which will foster your creative process. Time will be set aside for optional sharing and feedback, if it's helpful to you.

Synopsis: A woman rhapsodizes about her life up to now and how it's inextricably intertwined with her mother's own life and death. A poetic but brutally honest story of alcoholism, mental illness, and abuse, that carries a message of hope that those who suffer are not broken, but that the cycle of suffering can be.
UPDATE: While rehearsals will continue at Jam Street, the performances will now be held at the John M. Cuelenaere Library.
